Malaria is caused by protozoa of the genus Plasmodium. There are 4 types falciparum, the various forms of the disease, namely lead, Plasmodium, Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium ovale and Plasmodium malariae. The malaria vector is the Anopheles mosquito. It was observed that people with sickle cell anemia, to appear to be protected from the development of the disease. It is not yet well establsihed the grounds of the protection afforded by the blocking of red blood cells for people who have the recessive trait.
